Social Anxiety

Social Anxiety affects many people and in different ways.  It’s can be normal to feel somewhat nervous when introduced to new environments, situations or speaking in public, however Social Anxiety is when someone experiences fear or anxiety disproportionate to the event or situation presented. Someone is normally diagnosed with Social Anxiety when the fear, panic and anxious feelings become debilitating for the suffer, stopping them from enjoying themselves or going to social outings, etc.  Of course people will experience this kind of anxiety on different levels.

Anxiety in general is something that can be addressed effectively with the methods we teach at Calibrate Coaching.  A clear distinction to be made is that Anxiety is not something you “have”, it is something you “do” as a coping mechanism, which can be addressed.  This learned behaviour can be changed!  I recommend you do something about it sooner rather than later so that you are able to live with increased ease and confidence.

Here is a list of symptoms that may indicate you are experiencing anxiety or social anxiety:

  • Worried about what others think
  • Feeling self-conscious, inadequate,
  • Fear of being judged, scrutinised
  • Feel highly sensitive to other peoples reactions towards you
  • Constant Self doubt
  • Questioning your behaviour and uncertain how to act or what to do
  • Constantly trying to impress others
  • Worried about doing the wrong thing
  • Feel as though you’re not good enough, stupid, useless, less than others
