GETTING OVER YOU
You might be wondering how you are supposed to be getting over your past relationship when all you can think about is the ex and what went wrong.
As mentioned in How can you mend a broken heart, if you are consumed by the ex then you need to shift your focus toward a new direction, to recovery.
What NOT to do when “getting over you”:
- Get drunk and pick up random sex partners
- Spend money you don’t have
- Drive by their home or place of work
- Stalk them on social media pages
- Talk about them to everyone all the time
- Not get professional support if you unyielding in your misery
Here are some tips towards “getting over you“:
- Spend time with friends
- Cut the ties and delete each other from social media sites, etc.
- Learn to embrace and appreciate time alone
- Be grateful for the relationship and it’s learnings
- Go and do all of the things you have wanted to do for a while but didn’t while you were in a relationship; Dancing, weekends away with friends, paint, get fit and healthy, take up a new interest or hobby
- See a professional to assist you with the recovery process – particularly if the hurt, anger, regret and sadness is unyielding or slow to move
